Cot Quilts

I have many (four) friends and a sister who are pregnant at the moment!  My plan is to make a small cot quilt for each of the new arrivals.

As none of them know what they're having I was planning on making all of the quilts  in neutral colours and patterns.  Below is my first completed top in what I hope are neutral colours- or are they slightly boyish? Its a simple disappearing nine patch. Molly, my dog is inspecting. Now, I'm trying to decide how to quilt it... stippling or straight lines?

Now I’m onto the second.  Here are the first two blocks....

 

As I said, I was planning on making them all in neutral colours and patterns but when I saw this traffic fabric, I couldn’t resist. Surely one of them will have to have a boy!  I am planning on making nine blocks like these and then doing a couple of brightly coloured borders.
